A video has resurfaced on Jimmy Fallon impersonating Chris Rock during a 2000 “Saturday Night Live” sketch wearing blackface. Shortly after, the #jimmyfallonisoverparty began on Twitter.
Jimmy has now tweeted out an apology, saying “there is no excuse for this.”
As we wait to see the fate of “The Tonight Show” host with NBC, actor and comedian Jamie Foxx has stepped in to give his thoughts on Jimmy’s sketch. Jamie defends Fallon’s Chris Rock impersonation saying, “it wasn’t blackface. We comedians.” He referred back to when he was a cast member on “In Living Color,” “we played every race. Let this one go. We got bigger fish to fry.”
NBC is same network that fired Megyn Kelly for defending blackface halloween costumes in 2018.
In 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this.
I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable.
