Our state budget is also done. The House has presented its proposal for the new budget for the next 2 years.

They want to spend $24 million starting July 1st, which is about 3% higher than the current spending.

The budget includes state employee and teacher pay increases, $30 million for local school districts to spend on school safely and student mental health grants. Not included are hundreds of millions of dollars for state building repairs and construction.

Republicans are proposing a small personal income tax cut and some business tax reductions.

House Republicans want to approve their full proposal by Friday.
