National civil rights leader, Rev. Jesse Jackson will be visiting New Bern today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday). He will be meeting with area pastors at 6 p.m. at West Street Christian Church, 721 West Street, New Bern.
He will greet the public and then talk to the media at a private event around 7p.
Jackson will also be addressing the PepsiCo Board of Directors Wednesday, who are also in town for their annual shareholders’ meeting.
Jackson expressed admiration for North Carolina and the growth he has seen in the south, in a phone interview. He said we must keep moving forward and not move back. He also made reference to the constitutional amendments on the voter ID bills.
