A suspect who is accused of shooting and killing a man in Rocky Mount on October 14 has been arrested in New York. Dontrell D. Bryant, 29, was charged with first-degree murder. On this past Monday, the Rocky Mount Police Department along with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Bryant.
According to authorities, Bryant was apprehended in New York and is being held without bond. Currently, he is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
Back in October when the incident occurred, Deante Jefferies was shot and died at the scene. Authorities said a black man was seen taking Shenika Arness Shaw against her will; a witness says he has someone with him as they left the scene.
The Rocky Mount homicide Unit continued o follow up on all incoming led and the investigation was still ongoing.
