Former officer Roy Oliver has been found guilty of the murder of 15-year-old Jordan Edwards, who he shot and killed in April 2017 while he was leaving a house party with his brothers and friends. While Jordan and his friends were pulling off from the party, Oliver shot off multiple rounds into the vehicle, striking and killing Jordan.

The jury deliberated for 12 hours before announcing the guilty verdict on Tuesday, On Wednesday, Oliver was sentenced to 15 years in prison and a fine of $10,000. Prosecutors wanted at least 60 years in prison, while the defense argued for 20 years or less.

“He actually can see life again after 15 years,” said Charmaine Edwards, Jordan’s mother. “And that’s not enough because Jordan can’t see life again.”
