Family and friends set up a memorial mourning the loss of a single mother, Kendra Pittman and her 9-year-old daughter killed who were electrocuted at a motel in Rocky Mount, NC.

Kendra Pittman was staying at the Economy Inn Hotel and Suites with her three children. According to WNCT, Ronald Hall, the father of the three children says, “I shouldn’t have had to lose a daughter. I shouldn’t have had to lose a girlfriend.” Ronald said he is trying to be strong for his two remaining children, but the grief is overwhelming at this time.

The air conditioner in the room stopped working and Ronald went to the front desk to notify the staff. Kendra reset the air conditioner. Ronald then said the the air conditioner began to malfunction and started smoking. Kendra attempted to open the door and that is when she was electrocuted. Their 10-year-old son witnessed it.

Siiyahh, 9-years-old, the daughter of Ronald and Kendra was also injured and later passed away at the hospital. The city claims they still haven’t determined what caused the air conditioner to malfunction.

The family will lay Kendra and Siiyahh to rest on Sunday.
