Ingredients
- 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
- 2 cups milk or water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 1/4 cup strawberries, sliced
- 2 tablespoons blueberries
- 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts
- 1 tablespoon peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon shredded coconut
- 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
Instructions
1. Cook the Oats
Add the oats, milk or water, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract and salt to a medium saucepan. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oatmeal is creamy and thick.
2. Prepare the Toppings
While the oatmeal cooks, slice the banana and strawberries and gather the blueberries, nuts, peanut butter, coconut and chocolate chips.
3. Build the Bowl
Transfer the warm oatmeal to a bowl and spread it evenly.
4. Load It Up
Arrange the banana, strawberries, blueberries, nuts, shredded coconut, chocolate chips and peanut butter over the oatmeal.
5. Finish and Serve
Drizzle the oatmeal with honey or maple syrup and serve immediately while warm.
