I’m gonna keep it real — The Mummy was easily one of the best horror movies I’ve seen in a while.
This one had everything I want from a horror movie: jump scares that actually hit, gore that didn’t feel watered down, and most importantly, that old-school “what the hell is about to happen next?” feeling. That’s the thing a lot of newer horror movies be missing. They’ll give you blood, they’ll give you demons, they’ll give you loud noises — but they don’t always give you that uncomfortable feeling in your stomach where you know something crazy is coming, you just don’t know when.
This movie had that.
And honestly, Blumhouse rarely drops a bad horror movie. When you see their name attached, you already know you’re probably in for something worth watching. Then you add James Wan from the Saw franchise into the mix? Yeah, chances are it’s gonna be pretty damn good.
Natalie Grace, who played Katie, was amazing in this. I’m not even joking — after watching her performance, if I saw her in real life, I’d probably cross the street. She brought that creepy, unsettling energy that makes a horror character stick with you after the movie is over.
But without spoiling anything, one of my favorite parts of the movie was the little sister, Maud, played by 13-year-old actress Billie Roy. Her scenes towards the end were hilarious, but creepy as hell. You’ll see what I mean.
Overall, The Mummy is definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re a real horror fan. It’s creepy, it’s intense, it’s bloody, and it brings back that feeling horror movies used to give us back in the day.
I’m giving The Mummy a 4.5 out of 5.
This one is well worth the watch.
