These baked pears are simple, elegant, and full of flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe but firm pears
- 4–6 oz brie cheese, rind on, cut into small cubes
- ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 2 tbsp honey (or maple syrup)
- 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp fresh thyme leaves (optional, but really good)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup water
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Preheat oven
Set oven to 375°F.
2. Prepare the pears
Slice the pears in half lengthwise and scoop out the core, removing a little extra flesh to create a small well.
3. Arrange in baking dish
Arrange the pears cut-side up in a baking dish.
4. Stuff the pears
Fill each pear with brie cubes, then top with chopped nuts and sprinkle with cinnamon, thyme, and a pinch of salt.
5. Add toppings
Drizzle honey over the pears, add a small piece of butter on top of each, and splash vanilla over everything.
6. Add liquid
Pour water into the bottom of the baking dish to keep the pears moist while baking.
7. Bake
Bake for 25–35 minutes, until the pears are tender and the brie is melted and bubbly, spooning the pan juices over the pears halfway through.
8. Serve
Serve warm with an extra drizzle of honey if desired.
