Weezer marked its new tour announcement with a surprise acoustic performance above a Venice Beach bar, drawing a crowd of fans and passersby for an unplanned early evening set. The appearance was presented as part of the band’s rollout for The Gathering, its newly announced North American tour.
During the short rooftop show, Rivers Cuomo and the band leaned into familiar favorites that fit the stripped-down setting. The set included Undone – The Sweater Song, Buddy Holly, Island in the Sun and Say It Ain’t So, giving the crowd a compact run through some of the group’s best-known songs. Go Away also made the set list, with Bethany Cosentino joining in.
The show added a local, casual feel to a larger campaign tied to Weezer’s upcoming live dates and new music plans. Instead of a formal venue or standard press event, the band used a beachside rooftop and a quick acoustic setup to create a moment that felt spontaneous but still closely connected to the tour launch.
