Rod Wave arrested for Felony Battery by Strangulation

Pitchfork is reporting that Florida rapper and singer Rod Wave was arrested Sunday (May 1) on a felony charge of battery by strangulation. His 2021 Dodge Durango was pulled over “after a traffic infraction occurred,” and he was subsequently arrested by the St. Petersburg Police Department at 10:34 p.m. on an out-of-county warrant issued by Osceola County, Florida. 

The artist posted videos on his Instagram stories of him driving in St. Petersburg with the the last clip showing his face illuminated by the lights of a police car. Currently, Rod Wave is in custody at Pinellas County Jail.

There is no other information on the felony charge of battery by strangulation. This story is still developing.

Rod Wave recently gave away $25,000 worth of gasoline in his native St. Petersburg.
