Few heart break albums hold a candle to the mastery of craft displayed by Keyshia Cole on this project. The themes of love and loss that the Oakland native would learn to wield in her classic sophomore album “Just Like Me” are present in this debut. Her raw emotion bleeds over into every aspect of this album, which at time means songs lack the polish she would find later on. However there are many moments where this plays in the favor of the art making it feel like each song expresses a different emotion one feels in the immediate aftermath of a break-up.- VK
