Akon was not playing about building his own city, Akon City.
Akon posted a picture on Instagram with the caption, “Just finalized the agreement for AKON CITY in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future.” Development towards the city started back in March 2019. In an interview with Nick Cannon, Akon revealed that construction started in March and stage two is going to be 2025. He also explained that the city will run off complete solar power, will have its own airport and its own economy using Akoin, a cryptocurrency that he created.
