Looks like Fox has pulled the plug on Empire.

The show was recently renewed for a sixth season, but it seems that will be its last season. According to Deadline, Fox has announced that the show will be cancelled following this season. The CEO of Fox Entertainment, Charlie Collier, said, “We are turning the final season into a large TV event, we are trying to go out guns a blazing. You allow fans to lean in and have the ending they deserve.”

As for Jussie, he will not be returning for the final season, but his contract was left open “just in case”. Collier confirmed, “There’s an option to have Jussie in the series but we have no plans for that.” He also noted that the writers haven’t even started writing for season six just yet.

The show will also be returning to its original slot, Tuesdays at 9pm.

Shocking news also came for Star fans as it was announced last week that it too is cancelled after its current season. A petition has since started to get Star back!
