It looks like Fox will be bringing back “Empire” for a 6th season, but sad new follows, Jussie Smollett will no be retuning.

Fox just issued the following statement, “By mutual agreement, the studio has negotiated an extension to Jussie Smollett’s option for season 6, but at this time there are no plans for the character of Jamal to return to ‘Empire.'”

So, in other words, we’ll keep him on contract just in case, but as of now, he will not be retuning to the show. This may have to do with the current lawsuit involving Jussie and the City of Chicago. The city is suing Jussie for $130,000, the funds they spent on his investigation that was randomly dismissed. Jussie may be tried for allegedly “faking” the attack. If he wins, his spot on the show could return.

Also, by the contracting being extended, it would seem they have to pay Jussie still. Wonder how that will work out
