It may be a rainy Thursday, but the search will continue for 3-year-old Casey Hathaway who was last seen on Tuesday before 2 p.m.

A grandmother was watching a group of 3 kids, who were playing outside while she was inside. This was the last time he was seen in a blue coat and dark pants. Police believe the boy wander away and are not treating this as a suspicious disappearance.

The Craven County EMA assistance director Ira Whitford said the weather could slow down the search but they will continue to search.

The search for Hathaway is ongoing off Toler Road in the Ernul area of Craven County, with more than 200 volunteers helping law enforcement agencies. Officials are not encouraging or discouraging volunteers but they prefer to use trained professionals due to weather conditions. People are welcome to volunteer in different aspects like assisting at the New Haven Church, officials said.

The 911 call has been released of the grandmother calling assuming her grandson has walked into the woods about 45 minutes prior.

Story still developing.
