The Jacksonville Police Department is still investigating the disappearance of a 78-year-old veteran who apparently walked away from his home on May 31, 2018.

The police issued a Silver Alert for James Wilson Jr. after he apparently walked away from his home in the Country Club area.

Police said Wilson appears to be suffering from dementia.

Wilson is described as a black male with gray hair and brown eyes, approximately 5’11 and 196lbs.

According to the police, he has family in Georgia, South Carolina, and Michigan.

“During the investigation, we learned that Mr. Wilson may have hitch-hiked in the past,” said the Supervisor of the Criminal Investigative Division, Sgt. Mark Ketchum. “We ask that anyone who may have picked up someone matching Mr. Wilson’s description to please give us a call. Although eight months have passed, we continue to ask for assistance from the public in this case.  No piece of information is too small and each and every tip is being investigated.”

If you have any information contact the 911 or Detective Vincent Waddell at 910-938-6408.
