It looks like the government shutdown is finally starting to affect the president himself.
Being that federal workers aren’t currently getting paid with the government being shut down, the White House kitchen staff is included. Trump had no one to cook a homemade meal for the National Champion Clemson Tigers for their White House visit on Monday night. As a result, Donald Trump had a massive spread of fast food. Including McDonalds, Wendys, and Burger King. “American stuff” as he calls it. “I think that would be their favorite food, so we’ll see what happens,” he added. I guess he felt that would be the perfect fit for this American team. Honestly, anything other than McDonalds would have been better. Being that he has been rich his whole life, fast food is like a luxury to him. Something different and cool. He doesn’t realize the average person hates fast food from eating it all the time, being that it is quick and affordable.
After the visit, Trump took to Twitter, proud of his doings. He was so excited about serving them McDonalds, that he spelled hamburgers wrong. The tweets has been fixed since, but read the original tweet below. Trump even tried to give himself more credit when he tweeted his recap of the visit, saying he bought 1000 burgers for the team. When on camera he said it was only 300. The players confirmed it was indeed 300 burgers.
Of course, he blamed the Democrats for him having to serve the array of the Big Macs, chicken nuggets, fried and pizza. “Because the Democrats refuse to negotiate on border security, much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed — so the President is personally paying for the event to be catered with some of everyone’s favorite fast foods,” deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley told CNN in a statement.
This is America.
