Serena Williams played a good game at the U.S. Open final. After the controversy, Serena was fined a total of $17,000 for three code violations during the U.S Open final.
According to ABC. “The tournament referee’s office docked Williams $10,000 for “verbal abuse” of chair umpire Carlos Ramos, $4,000 for being warned for coaching, and $3,000 for breaking her racket. The money comes out her prize money of $1.85 million as the runner-up.” Serena clashed with the chair umpire while demanding an apology after he initially issued a warning for a code violation.
Serena says, she would never cheat. She also says, “I play to lose. I have never cheated in my life. You owe me an apology.” Serena played her best game she could and although she was cheated a point, she was happy for Osaka’s win.
