The 2018 VMAs were definitely a night to remember! Iconic performances blessed the stage all night long, as Nicki Minaj performed tracks off of her new album Queen, making sure to leave a lasting impression for those who may have forgotten that she is indeed THE Queen. Closing her performance with a simple, “B*tch you THOUGHT!”

Cardi B opened the show. It wasn’t the performance we all hoped to see, but just to see our new favorite girl out of the house after giving birth to baby Bardi, Kulture, was enough. Cardi also took home the award for Best New Artist, well deserved! During her acceptance speech, Cardi thanked her fans and family for the constant love and support. Ending it seemingly with a reply to Nicki, “thats something money can’t buy. B*tch!”

The highlight of the night was Jennifer Lopez who put on a FIRE 10-minute performance, bringing out Ja Rule and DJ Khaled, leading up to her acceptance of the Vanguard Award. When I tell you I was standing the whole time, clapping and cheering, damn near crying while watching that performance!

Travis Scott, who is currently holding the #1 album in America right now, took the stage to perform, reminding us & Nicki Minaj, who expressed her anger earlier that day about coming in #2 to Travis, that Astroworld holds that top spot on the charts.

Song of the Year went to Post Malone and 21 Savage with “Rockstar”, Best Collab went to Jennifer Lopez feat. DJ Khaled and Cardi B for “Dinero”, Best Hip Hop Artist went to Nicki Minaj for “Chun-Li”, Video with a Message went to Childish Gambino “This Is America,” The Carters won Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Direction for “Ape Sh*t”.
