Kevin Hart’s ‘Help From the Hart’ charity has awarded scholarships to three Xavier University of Louisiana students based on their academic and personal accomplishments.

The new scholarship is $600,000 and will provide funding to support KIPP students from eight cities attending 11 historically black colleges and universities. The charity is currently working with the United Negro College Fund and KIPP – Knowledge is Power Program to help 18 students earn a college degree.

A statement was released Tuesday by Kevin saying, “Education and knowledge are powerful. I just wanted to do my part in providing opportunities for our future leaders, especially from my Philly hometown, and show support for (historically black colleges and universities. This is just the beginning, trust me when I tell you there are a lot more kids who want to go to college who don’t have the money to make it happen.”
