Pitt County schools will be closed on May 16 for the Students and for
Respect Rally going on in Raleigh.  Several teachers said they will be
going which led to the decision to close school.  Pitt County
officials said due to the high number of absences by teachers that
schools will be closed.

The rally will address teacher’s pay, increased per student allotment,
class size caps. There have been similar rallies in Arizona, Oklahoma
and West Virginia.
