For the first time ever, an african nation has a team in the Winter Olympics!

The ladies, Seun Adigun, Akuoma Omeoga and Ngozi Onwumere, are American living in Houston, Texas but were born to Nigerian parents. They make up the Nigerian bobsled team, which is a first in the Winter Olympics.

“This is a huge milestone for sports in Nigeria,” 31-year-old Seun Adigun, the bobsled team driver and leader, told KweséESPN after the team qualified for the Olympics last November. “Nothing makes me prouder than to know that I can play a small role in creating opportunities for winter sports to take place in Nigeria.”

The girl have appeared everywhere from CNN, the New York Times and even The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

They did not win the Gold, but they did make history! Something to definitely be proud of!
