A 16-year-old was hit by a school bus in Jacksonville on Friday morning.

The Jacksonville High School student was hit on Gum Branch Road around 6:37 p.m. He was transferred to US Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune with serious injuries.

The boys name has not been released yet.

“Our crisis team is at Jacksonville High School to support our students and staff.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the student and family,” said Suzie Ulbrich, spokesperson for Onslow County Schools.
