Do you remember singer J. Holiday? Best known for songs like “Bed” and “Suffocate.” Well he has emerged from … wherever the hell he was, just to send a message to the ladies of Hip Hop and R&B.
Holiday went to Instagram to tell Beyonce, SZA, and Cardi B that it is not far that they can win Grammy’s off of their “pain-inspired” music. He starts his message saying he has respect for black women but then continues with,
Beyoncé, Cardi B, SZA, all y’all motherf**kers, stop using that f**king pain to make it okay to say some bullsh*t on your record, and get nominated for a Grammy for going through some bullsh*t. Because so have I as a black motherf**king man.
My response to J. Holiday would be, do men not write songs based off relationship-caused pain? Isn’t music here to express yourself and whatever you may be going through in your life? Whether it be happy moments, racial issues, or relationship talk (good or bad), I believe that is what music was created for.
Im sure he is just upset that is no longer relevant. And speaking like that, in a time of women being unafraid to speak up and standup, you will remain irrelevant.
