83 Babies Rapper Charged with Murder of 9-Year-Old Boy in Durham

A member of the North Carolina trio, 83 Babies, has been arrested in connection to the death of 9-year-old Z’Yon Person, back in August.

Z’Yon was killed and an 8-year-old was hurt in the shooting near Duke Street and Leon Street in Durham, the night of Sunday, Aug. 18. Person was one of five children in a car on the way to Pelican’s SnoBalls to get snow cones, his family told ABC11.

Antonio Davenport aka Lil Tony, 24, of Durham, was charged on Tuesday morning, being held in the Durham County Jail.

Davenport is charged with first-degree murder, felony conspiracy to commit murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, five counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied property causing serious injury and three counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle/residence.

The 83 Babies, made up of Lil Tony, Young Boss Tevo and Set It Off, blew up this year with their single “No Cap”, after being signed to rapper Rich the Kid’s label, Rich Forever Music.
