Pitt Community College announced on Wednesday that, effective July 1, it will take ownership of Mitchell’s Hair Styling Academy in Greenville.

Mitchell’s Hair Styling Academy, located at 426 East Arlington Boulevard, near Buffalo Wild Wings, has operated PCC’s Cosmetology training program for more than 36 years, under a contract with the college.

On Wednesday, PCC officials said the Academy’s owner, Ricky Mitchell, offered to sell the business to the college.

The PCC Cosmetology Center will continue operating at the Arlington Village location, and current Cosmetology students will continue their normal classes at the same location, according to PCC officials.

PCC President Lawrence Rouse said students and the community can continue to expect the same professionalism in training and service they’ve always had at Mitchell’s.

“Mitchell’s set a high standard for quality hairstyling training, and PCC will continue that tradition,” Rouse said.
