Florida rapper Kodak Black has been released from jail early after serving 7 months!

Kodak spent time in jail for probation violations. In January Kodak was arrested while on Instagram Live for being in possession of marajiuana and weapons, and his child was with him at at the time. Kodak was charged with marijuana possession, child neglect, grand theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The charges of child neglect and grand theft of a firearm were dropped in February. Kodak was sentenced to 12 months, but in July it was reported he would be released early.

The judge approved a motion filed by Kodak’s lawyer to recognize 30 additional day of time served. While incarcerated, Kodak began to identify as a Hebrew Israelite after studying with a priest who conducts prison ministry. Legally changing his name from Dieuson Octave to Bill Kahan Kapri, with Kahan meaning “priest” in HebrewBlack. He also received his GED.

Kodak is still awaiting trial for sexual assault charges in South Carolina from October 2017.
